Many patients with primary liver cancer in China carry chronic hepatitis B (HBV) infection, which drives both cirrhosis and hepatocarcinogenesis. Treating the tumor without addressing HBV leaves the underlying disease process active.

In a patient with 40 years of chronic hepatitis B and multifocal hepatocellular carcinoma, post-treatment PET/CT imaging showed the multiple tumors controlled and the HBV viral load eliminated. In a separate case involving a 32cm massive liver tumor, PET/CT confirmed disease control following UMIPIC treatment — demonstrating the platform's potential even in advanced, large-volume disease.
